Chapter 3
What conventions were established for depicting kings (pharaohs) in Ancient Egypt (see page 64 in the textbook)? How are these seen on Menkaure in Menkaure and Khamerernebty (Figure 3-13), Hatshepsut in Hatshepsut with Offering Jars (3-21), and Tutankhamen in Innermost Coffin of Tutankhamen (Figure 3-34)? How do these depictions of pharaohs differ from Akhenaton as seen in Akhenaton and Nefertiti with their three daughters (Figure 3-33)?
Chapter 4
Compare and contrast the Minoan fresco Bull-leaping, from the palace, Knossos (Figure 4-8) to the Mycenaean Hunter capturing a bull drinking cup (Figure 4-24). Address the materials used in the creation of each work and the imagery depicted. Describe the similarities and differences in how the Minoans and Mycenaeans rendered humans and animals.
