What design features could potentially set an electric razor apart from competitor offerings?

Brand – Every Mans Jack
Project – Men’s Electric Razor
Research objective/questions

● Every Man Jack currently offers primarily men’s body care items such as body wash, deodorant, shampoo, skin care items and manual razors.
● We would like to explore the viability of offering a line of men’s electric razors. This would be a new product line for us, so we have much to learn. We need to understand:
○ Who are the current players in this market? What is their market share? Which players are most like us in terms of brand identity? Would our target consumers accept an electric razor product from Every Man Jack?
○ How are our top competitors pricing their men’s electric razors? What can we expect consumers would pay for an electric razor with Every Man Jack branding?
What design features could potentially set an electric razor apart from competitor offerings?
Project Part II: Secondary Research Infographic Report
Carefully review Chapter 3: Secondary Research before beginning this portion of the project.
On behalf of your client selected in Week 1, you will conduct secondary research and develop an infographic that will begin to address your client’s research objective. In this assignment, you will gain experience in gathering, interpreting, analyzing and organizing secondary data, as well as identifying reliable and credible sources.
Step 1: Conduct Secondary Research
Compile as much relevant secondary data as possible (at least 5 sources) that will help address the research objective and specific client research questions.
Look for industry articles and trends. Be sure to use the best information you can find. The more effort your instructor sees, the more likely you are to earn full points.

Recommended databases to start with (may require Davenport login):
Statista provides statistics in graphic format on a variety of topics. You can screenshot these charts to include in your infographic. Just be sure to source properly according to the assignment instructions.
Mintel Academic & Trends helps you understand changes in culture, markets and brands so you can target consumers more effectively. Provides robust insight and recommendations based on in-depth market study.

IBISWorld is the United States’ most comprehensive collection of Industry Market Research and Industry Risk Ratings.

These sources and others are available for free in the DU Library list of databases (login required). You need at least 5 sources for this assignment.

You will likely also need to search additional sources and websites to find detailed market information to fulfill all of your client’s research questions.

Step 2: Develop Infographic
An infographic is a document that displays data in a more visual manner than a written report. Choose your infographic software using one of these examples. Many students choose Piktochart. Here is a tutorial on Piktochart software. Please use infographic software (not Word, Powerpoint, etc.) as this fulfills the technology requirements of the assignment.

Your infographic should be robust and contain the following sections clearly labeled.
Section 1 – Research Objective: At the top of your infographic, restate your client’s research objective (from week 1).
Section 2 – Secondary Findings:
Provide data that addresses each of your client’s specific questions using reputable secondary sources (no blogs, no Wikipedia or similar unsubstantiated sources).
Findings should be organized by each question with subheadings.
Each question addressed should include a mix of text and visuals gathered from your research. Visuals should primarily be data charts and graphs since this is a data/research infographic.
In-text citations need to accompany findings (i.e., author, date) where they are stated/illustrated in your infographic. Citations should link to your works cited document (see step 3).
Section 3 – Conclusions:
Using the data you gathered in Section 2, concisely answer the client’s research questions to the best of your ability, providing recommendations where possible.
Stay away from personal opinion and let the data speak for itself, citing your secondary research findings where appropriate.
State which areas you were unable to answer thoroughly. In other words, which areas will require more specific information from primary research?
Step 3: Create Works Cited Document
Provide a separate works cited document in Word that includes all of your sources using APA format.

Step 4: Submit to Blackboard
Submit both your (1) infographic and (2) works cited document to Blackboard. Blackboard allows for multiple files to be submitted in one assignment.
