It is argued that, in secondary school, less emphasis is placed on developing computer
science skills in females compared to their male counterparts. As a result, females are
discouraged to further pursue Computer Science at a tertiary level. My hypothesis is
that females are subjected to this bias from as young as infancy, and childhood
development plays a key role in the probability of success in the computer science
industry.

Expected Conclusions:
Through analyzing data and statistics, I expect to confirm that from as young as infancy
females are subjected to prejudices that deter them from Computer Science and that
less emphasis is placed on developing STEM-related skills in females in comparison to
their male counterparts. This in turn has caused a decline or a “standstill” growth-wise
of women in the field. I believe that once these inequalities are addressed and females
are offered the same investment in STEM skills as males, the STEM industry will see a
growth in interest from females.
