The concept of failing forward is a time-tested principle of
innovator entrepreneurs, newbie start-ups, and mature media channels
needing a fresh look at changing societal norms and the global
marketplace. Failing forward allows for crazy ideas, a synergistic
sandbox of non-judgmental collaboration, and if the idea fails to have
legs, lessons can still be learned from that failure to continue moving
forward with a creative mindset.
Research and describe one instance of a post-1975 communication product or service idea that publically failed.
What did the organization learn from that failure and were
they able to move forward to a successful product or service? You will
need to find a discussion, article, or other accessible resource that
describes or suggests the road forward from failure.
Cite at least two net references in current APA format.
For example, Americas foremost inventor, Thomas Edison, lasted
only three months in school as his teachers said he was too stupid to
learn anything. Yet, Edison went on to create the duplex telegraph,
stock ticker, dictation machine, talking doll, releasing oil from shale,
the all-concrete home, motion picture camera, and the light bulb (the
latter item disrupting the candle, whale oil, and kerosene industries).
After 999 failures, Edison and his staff discovered the winning
composition of a carbonized sewing thread filament or in Edisons own
words, I have simply found 999 ways how not to create a light bulb.
Learn from your mistakes and move on. That is what it means to fail
forward.
