1) Sum up your impressions of the Creation Museum in a few reflective paragraphs. What did you like about it and what did you dislike? Don’t just describe exhibits, be sure to comment on your opinions of them.

2) Should there be any restrictions or disclaimers attached to the use of the word “museum”? ( such as the approval or accreditation of an impartial review board for educational value and accuracy) ?
Should sites that fail to measure up to “museum” standards be required to change their name to “experience” or “theme park”?

3) Pretend you are back in high school in your senior year – Your class has been fundraising for the traditional senior class trip to Washington DC to visit the Smithsonian Institute – the Museums of History, Natural History, Air and Space, and Art.
Now a small but vocal group of students in your class is trying to rally support for a change in venue, where the whole group would instead visit the Creation Museum in Kentucky for 2 days. The final destination will be decided by a vote of the senior class.
Write a paragraph to the school newspaper expressing your support for the option of your choice, and give some good reasons to persuade others to vote for it.
4) Suppose each of the following museums were opened in your town. Would you pay to visit them or approve of spending town tax revenue to support them?
( Answer all, and explain your answer in a sentence or two for each one.)

a) A history museum that puts up a permanent exhibit claiming that the
Holocaust ( persecution and murder of Jewish people in Germany
during World War 2 ) never happened
b) An art museum that buys famous works of art by artists such as Van
Gogh and Picasso, or valuable first edition books like Gutenberg
Bibles, and then publicly burns them as performance art
c) A science museum that adds signage to every existing exhibit, attacking
and discrediting religious faith ( How does this differ from what the Creation Museum does?)
d) A history museum that has displays describing specific periods in
history but randomly mixes clothing and tools from all
times in history throughout its displays

e) A planetarium that describes the events of Star Wars as fact, and claims
to identify actual stars and planets in the sky as the sites of the
specific events in the films.

f) A science museum that has exhibits stating that everything in the Harry
Potter stories is true and that magic is real and based in science

What if a history museum presented this as an accurate map of America?
5) A few school districts in the Midwest and South have voted to require stickers pasted in Biology textbooks that say “Evolution is only one way of looking at the history of life on earth, but other viewpoints such as intelligent design should be considered as well.” ( Many science teachers in these districts are strongly against this.)

Do you think requiring these stickers is fair? Why or why not?
If a district requires religious explanations to be included in science classes, then should a discussion of Evolution be required in all religion classes offered by churches in the district? Should Bibles have to contain stickers saying “Evolution should be considered as an alternative to the Book of Genesis?”
Should teachers that present creationism as a viable alternative to evolution in their science classes also be required to discuss Buddhist, Muslim, Hindu, and Native American creation stories? What about the possibility that humans were “seeded” on Earth by UFO aliens? The Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster? The belief in “Last Thursdayism” ( the idea that the Earth has only existed since last Thursday, and that every piece of evidence suggesting otherwise is an elaborate prank being played on us by a mischievous creator )?

6) A 9 year old child you’re babysitting tells you about discovering the Creation Museum webpage online, and gushes to you about all the cool science facts that they learned there – For example, that dinosaurs lived at the same time as people, that the Earth is really only a few thousand years old, that the Grand Canyon formed in one day, and that marriage only counts between a boy and a girl.
How would you respond? Assume that the child’s parents are average church-goers who attend services locally but don’t know anything about (or contribute financially to) the Creation Museum.
