What do you conclude are deemed to be the knowledge and skills needed for teachers at the secondary school level to effectively impart to their students in the classroom to make them productive citizens?

Jacobs contends that “. . . foundations courses [such as the current course, SPF403, for which
you are registered], serve primarily to help prospective educators understand the complex historical, social, philosophical, psychological, economic, and/or political roots of what goes on in schools and society, on the assumption that, with this knowledge teachers’ practices might be enhanced “ (247). Upon reading the selected pages of Jacobs’ article for this required written assignment:
• What do you conclude are deemed to be the knowledge and skills needed for teachers at the secondary school level to effectively impart to their students in the classroom to make them productive citizens?
• What are the suggestions made by Jacobs on how those aspects of the knowledge and skills may be acquired by those who are pursuing a career to teach at the secondary school level, and,
• What are some examples that you may provide in discussing those aspects of the knowledge and skills ?

The last three years have highlighted quite a bit of uneasiness in our society and have given
rise to mass protest engaging intergenerational/multigenerational, interracial, and persons of quite a range of belief systems who have energized those protests. Indeed, we may conclude that, to a large extent, their vocalized concerns may easily be situated withing the issues raised by Cremin, Dewey, and Baldwin – articulating systemic changes to rid our society of the tremendous inequities and discriminatory practices that tend to divide rather than bring us together. The Buffalo Public Schools has, to its credit, instituted a curriculum that is currently operational, ( https://www.buffaloschools.org/Page/93603), and which seeks to address, in part, the issues addressed by Cremin, Dewey, and Baldwin.
Reflecting on your experiences as a student in going through P-12 schooling,
• Describe in detail those experiences that mirror/bring to life the discussions of Cremin, Dewey, and Baldwin regarding ways in which schooling in your experiences in P-12 schooling does not address the educational and social needs of all students equitably.
• What are your thoughts as to how the Buffalo Public School Curriculum, Culturally & Linguistically Responsive Initiatives, 2020 ( https://www.buffaloschools.org/Page/93603
may positively address those issues.
