. What do you feel is the best way to address such trends in society especially as we are focused on working with athletes or active individuals? Should it be addressed?

Fat intake is of course, very high in our culture. We have so many athletes that are in the mindset that they exercise so much that they can eat what they want and anytime they want without any thought to how it effects their performance. Then, there is the trend of eating high fat and avoiding carbohydrate intake so the messages society is hearing is that carbs are bad for you and fat is good as long as you are exercising.
1. What do you feel is the best way to address such trends in society especially as we are focused on working with athletes or active individuals? Should it be addressed?
2. What steps would you take to address this issue with an athlete who felt he or she could eat anything they wanted even though the coaching staff feels there is a performance “dead weight” issue?
3. Provide specific fat intake (food) recommendations that you would give to this athlete (Doesn’t have to be a meal plan…just give some overall healthier food/snack recommendations)?
4. Provide an example of a meal you would encourage the athlete to eat pre-event and post-event as well.
