The following guidelines are excerpts from the University of Wisconsin, and provide a basic overview of a play reaction paper. Refer to these guidelines and the attached rubric when writing your paper.
Before watching the show, write down what you expect to see. You are encouraged to find a description of the play or an interview with the playwright, but do not simply write a plot summary. What are YOUR expectations? What do you think the world of the play looks like? How the people in this world behave? What is the theme, or message, of the play? If you have never seen a theatrical performance before, what do you expect it will be like?
