Carefully read the two witch hunt documents (one by Bodin and one by Kramer). Then write at least a 150 word paragraph the following.
For the Bodin document, address the following: What crimes does Bodin attribute to witches? Why does Bodin believe that it was essential for the state to aggressively pursue witchcraft allegations? What does Bodin’s discussion of witchcraft tell us about his religious views? What about his political views?
For the Kramer document, address the following: Setting aside that these people are being interrogated for the crime of suspected witchcraft, how likely would it be that this process of questioning could result in an honest confession for any crime? Why do you think so? What do you think was the most important societal factor that moved witchcraft trials from the status of marginalized and discredited phenomena to mainstream, widespread occurrences?
