What does the poem suggest about wealth or status.

For this assignment you are to explore the theme of a poem. Remember that a theme is not merely a subject or a topic. “Death,” “courage,” “the struggles of life” are not themes. Those are only topics. A theme is what the text says about a topic and expresses a complete thought. Be specific.
Your literary analysis essay is to be 600-900 words (the works cited page is never part of the word count) and five paragraphs: introduction, three body paragraphs, conclusion.
As a reminder:
· Introduction leads to the thesis as final sentence
· Each body paragraph follows MEAL:
o Main idea— has one claim that is directly related to the thesis and stated in the paragraph’s first sentence, a topic sentence
o Evidence— offers at least one/no more than three direct quotations from the text that are correct in formatting, integration, and parenthetical citation. See the document on changes when quoting poetry.
o Analysis—clearly explain your interpretation of the evidence and how it supports the paragraph’s main idea
o Link—final sentence of each body paragraph ties its points back to thesis
· Conclusion: restate ideas of essay and provide closure for reader
