Introductions (100 words)
1) Write a brief introduction of yourself, program of study, one hobby, and one thing most people don’t know about you, and what you would like to get from this semester. Additionally, name one thing you believe you know about substance or behavioral addictions. To make the course more personal, you should upload a photo image of yourself. If you are not comfortable with that, upload an image or avatar that represents you. Animal lovers may upload images of their pets!
Chapter 1: Choose and respond to one of the following questions (at least 200 words total; 1-2 citations)
1) How have people throughout history used psychoactive drugs to cope with their environments?
2) What drug problems do we face today that our ancestors did not have to face and why?
Chapter 2: Choose and respond to one of the following questions (at least 200 words total; 1-2 citations)
1.) Think about food you regularly eat (sweets, spicy flavors, carbs) and how your capacity for use (tolerance) may have increased over time and then compare that to the increase in tolerance for psychoactive drugs.
2.) Explain in general how you expect the brain of a long-term drug user to operate differently than the brains of non-users.
