Assignment Overview
This semester we will compose case studies using real world organizations. In doing so, you will demonstrate your
ability to describe the conflict faced by your selected organization and outline their effective solution.
Prior to drafting our own case studies, however, we will deconstruct existing news write-ups about organizational
successes to understand their components, organization, and writing style.

Use the following sample situations for your deconstruction (attached).

In thoroughly when examining the write-up, you should look for the following content:
the challenge faced by the organization (including the context in which this occurred)
the solution developed by the organization
evidence to support the effectiveness of the solution
the primary takeaways and recommendations for other organizations
You should also pay attention to the organization of each write-up and consider the specific intended audience for
each article:
How does the author of your article organize their ideas?
What evidence do they include to back their ideas?
How do they incorporate their evidence?
What vocabulary choices do they make in presenting the information?
How else do they demonstrate awareness of their particular audience?
Once you have deconstructed your article, you should begin thinking about how you can utilize the elements you’ve
identified in a write-up for an organization.
