What factors contributed to the development of the character’s problem(s)?

This is a case conceptualization paper based on Akbar, a main character from the film, Jodhaa Akbar. Here are the sections to include in the paper:

1. Conceptualization of Akbar
– Presenting problem: how is he feeling/what is the problem? (This can include any difficulties in his life, and how was he impacted in the film.)
– Predisposing factors: What factors contributed to the development of the character’s problem(s)? This can include any biopsychosocial factors.
– Precipitating factors: What are the triggers/events that brought on the problem?
– Perpetuating factors: what factors maintain the character’s problem?
– Protective factors – What are the character’s strengths to deal effectively with the problem? ex: social support, community resources, etc.

2. Cultural Identity Questions: These are the questions that I would ask Akbar in order to understand his cultural identity. We are to provide the answers for the questions based off observations from the movie. The questions are: what is considered respectful in your culture, do you maintain contact with your family or friends in your country of origin, where are you and your parents from, would you marry outside your cultural group, do you have much contact with people from your cultural group, is there any group or groups that are important to you, and how would you describe yourself?

3. Theoretical orientation: This section is based on which intervention we would use to treat the character. I chose Integrative Behavioral Couple Therapy, since Akbar and his wife, Jodhaa, face many issues in their marriage. I have included two research articles to incorporate in this section.

4. Tentative DSM-V diagnosis: What diagnosis would I give Akbar based on the previous sections? I have included a copy of the DSM-V.
