Research Topic: What factors or situations seem to influence success in counselling?

Introduction should include:
Concise statement of the purpose, structure, and rationale for the
paper. (Why are you writing about this specialty? What do you want to
learn? Why is this important? What are the implications of this topic? )

Body: Review of Literature should include:
10 relevant and current sources are used to present a balanced
perspective and are well discussed in-depth in an integrated [vs linear]
presentation.

Body: Critical Thinking should include:
Excellent, integrated discussion [compare and contrast] of the strengths
and limitations of the specialty based on the sources reviewed and
one’s own analysis as it relates to the literature.

Conclusion should include:
Clear, logical, and concise summary of the structure or points covered
in your paper. Discussion of future research, if applicable.

Factors
that influence the counseling process:

– Seriousness of the presenting problem:
– Clients reporting higher
initial distress take more sessions to reach clinically significant improvement
than clients reporting lower levels of distress.
– Research suggests that
the largest gains in improvement occur early in treatment, but that take seriously
disturbed individuals benefit from longer term treatment.
– Clients who are in
better shape at the onset of treatment seem to improve the most in the least amount of
time, & with the best long-term results.

– Another factor is who initiated the counselling session (counsellor or client):
counsellor-initiated counselling may result in resistance or reluctance from the client thus affective the time it takes to achieve success.
· Also, It is the client’s perspective that is more strongly related
to counseling success than the counselors perspective.
– The counselling’s physical environment may influence success as well.
– Lastly, the counselling needs to build trust, and have empathy in order to drop the walls of the client to promote success.
