What important role does physical place play in Eubanks’ memoir?

I am writing to assign your prompt for
the upcoming essay. For this essay, we are assigning prompts from a handful of
questions that the Professor and I developed on the memoir, Ever is a
Long Time. For the essay due on October 31st, you
may choose from one of the two following prompts:

What
is the purpose of Eubanks’ memoir? Why did he write it and how does the
memoir serve this purpose?
What
important role does physical place play in Eubanks’ memoir? How do these
places interact with memory throughout the book?

Your task will be to compose a short
response paper (2 page minimum, 3 page maximum) that directly
answers one of the above questions. In your essay, you must cite specific
examples from the book with in-text citations. I am fine with any citation
style as long as it is consistent; even something as simple as citing the page
number in parentheses is fine. Please note that you must cite both direct
quotes and paraphrased information, and I will be looking for examples that
span the entirety of the book, rather than just 1-2 chapters.

Though the bulk of my focus will be on
the content and organization, I will also be taking grammar/conventions into
account. Please proofread your work before submitting. For your papers, please
use the following format when the assignment is posted. Failure to
follow these instructions may result in a reduced grade.
