What is the impact on the development of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander (ATSI) people when they live in a community that supports the expression of their cultural identity?

What is the impact on the development of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander
(ATSI) people when they live in a community that supports the expression of their
cultural identity?
Examples of communities to consider would include Geelong, Victoria; Mount Druitt,
NSW or Armadale, Western Australia. Include comments regarding any of the
following topics, and/or some of your own;
• Intergenerational relationships,
• parent/child centres,
• education levels,
• pre-school/school attendance,
• health facilities (e.g. hospitals, infant health clinics, drug & alcohol centres),
• funding models (from all three levels of government) and
• localised statistics (housing, educational institutions, income levels etc.).
This assessment requires you to apply Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs and Bronfenbrenner ecological systems theory of human development that you have studied in this unit and to
integrate your knowledge of risk, opportunity and resilience as it relates to
communities and individuals of the ATSI population.
