Your final paper will consist of 8-10 pages divided in five sections.

Section I The Organization 1 page:
In this section you will identify your organization (headstart) (don’t identify the agency specifically). What is the purpose of your organization? What services does your organization offers? What is the size of your organization? How many people does your organization serve?

Section II Demographics: 1-2 pages
Where is your organization located? Borough, Zip Code? (11434)To make your task more manageable I suggest you select the zip code where your agency is located. You may want to select the zip code where your current students live. For this section you will need to visit the Census system. You can access the census @ Census 2020 and American Fact Finder. For New York you can access the Data Summaries of children with disabilities receiving special education or Early Intervention program-New York State Department of Health.

Section III The Community: 1 page
Based on the data secured from the various Data systems. You should be able to identify who lives in your target area. Language, cultures, education, family composition, children between the ages of 0-5, economic conditions.

Section IV The Children: 2-3 pages
Select a child or children from your class and demonstrate how your curriculum addresses their needs. For this section it will be fine to talk about what you have done to help the children. You can select any child it does not have to be a child with a disability. Utilize your knowledge of child development, the websites you have learned about as to how best to meet the children’s needs.

Section V Tying it all Together: 2-3 pages

In this section you will bring together, in summary, a sentence or two regarding the agency, the demographics and the children served. Using your knowledge of the children, the curriculum as well as what you have learned through class and the website information you have researched, what are the strengths, weaknesses of your organization? How better can you address the needs of parents? How can you improve the curriculum to meet the needs of the cultural differences in your community? What adjustments need to be made for the children with disabilities? Children and parents whose primary language is not English? How does your organization prepare your children for the transition to the next educational step for them?
