Autoethnography

Your autoethnography should situate an American aspect of your life in American national politics or global politics. To complete this paper you are required to use a minimum of 3 outside research references; one of these references may be (but need not be) an interview with a family member or other person relevant to your topic.
If you must use someone else’s words, from an interview or written text, please put them in quotation marks and identify the source. Quotations should be no more than 2-3 sentences long.
These are the itemized sections of the paper with their point values:
I. (40 points)
1) In 1/2 page introduction, describe yourself briefly in basic autobiographic terms. Include those aspects of your self-identification that are relevant to your paper topic for example: vegan, political party, age, gender, race, extra-curricular activity, etc. — (MY ANSWER Non-Vegan, Democratic, 20, Female, African American/Other, extra activities- work, organization that focuses on mental health).
2) Autoethnography: The body of your paper will identify the political subject that you will discuss and the event or practices in your life that connect you to the national or global political topic that you have chosen. You may choose to include aspects of other people’s lives that intertwine with your own in relation to this topic. Include a statement about why you have chosen this specific part of your life to discuss. Your discussion should include 1 theory that we have discussed; explain why you chose it and it relates to you larger topic. Your discussion should also include 1 sentence about an emic view of your topic and 1 sentence about an etic view of your topic.
3) In ½ page summarize and conclude the important points of your paper.
II. (15 points) Complete list of References Cited including written sources (both hard copy and online), and interview subjects if you have any. Please name your interviewee and the date(s) of the interviews in the List of References Cited. If you conduct your interviews by email, cite the dates of the emails. If, for some reason, your interviewees require/prefer anonymity (12 step program participants for example) then identify them as “Anonymous #1”; “Anonymous #2”.
III. (5 points) Write a 2-3 sentence reflection about your safeassign report. What is the report telling you about the originality of your essay.
