You are expected to incorporate TA feedback into your paper. All data should be analyzed with a clear discussion and conclusions in a final report with 3000 words (excluding title and references) with references cited. References must be consistently formatted and should also be on a separate works cited page. Your paper must cite and incorporate AT LEAST eight sources from primary literature (peer-reviewed academic journals, monographs, and edited volumes). . Your paper must have following sections:
Introduction with background information to set-up your particular research question – There MUST be citations within the text and these must be referenced in a ‘references cited’ section at the end of your paper. (typically, 2 pages)
Background Research and Methods Plan (1-3 paragraphs)
relevant literature leading to expected outcomes (“hypotheses”)
Surveys: must have methods section (not needed for lit review)
Literature research (about 6-8 pages) – informing your question. For those not doing an active component this will be the bulk of your body (your research). MUST use citations.
Active component: literature research can set up what you are doing, you may cite and use methods/questions from published resources (not other students).
Must have a methods section with the number of participants, methods used, statements of ethics, survey questions (can be an appendix). Methods can cite other resources if you used similar methods and survey questions.
You should also use your literature research to compare your results within the discussion
Surveys: Report results (subheading “Results”) – do not compare or interpret until the discussion
Can have tables and figures
Discussion (at least 2 pages): sum up your findings – how do they help you answer your question? Final analysis of the different works and/or surveys (active component).
Describe the limitations of your research – was there specific topics that were difficult to find literature on? How reliable are surveys? etc.
Provide possible future directions for research, i.e. areas not explored or with very little research currently
Conclusion (about one paragraph): reiterate the main arguments of your paper to form a cohesive final paragraph stating the main findings and possible future implications, goals, research.
References cited (not included in word count).
3000 words, 1” margins, 12 pt Times New Roman font, double-spaced
Include your name, TA’s name, your section number, and title. This can be at the top of the first page or you can have a title page (your preference, but this is not counted toward your page limit either way)
Must include at least 8 primary (peer-reviewed) resources cited within the body of your paper AND referenced in a final page called ‘References Cited’. Those doing an active research component are required to have 6 published research articles
All assignments uploaded must have the proper titles and extensions. The title of your uploaded file must include your last name and section number, must not contain spaces, and MUST have the extension .doc OR .docx. (Ex: “Young0274.doc”) NOT “Young Report 1” or “Finalpaper.docx”.
