What level of responsibility does your chosen character take for the Trojan War?

There are 3 essay questions.

back up what you are saying.
Please use specific quotes from the text and/or films to back up your thoughts.
When citing the reading please give the authors name and the page number.
(ex. “………….quote…….” (Rosenberg 12).) Always put what the author is saying in quotes! ALWAYS!! Use your own words! Plagiarism: is serious and grounds for expulsion. A cover page is not required. Each question is worth 35 points. 35 times 3 is 105, which means you have a 5 point extra credit opportunity here as well.

Essay 1. Homer’s The Iliad.
Please select ONE character from The Iliad.
As in class on a more in depth level, compare your character to another character we have read/discussed so far. Explain.
What level of responsibility does your chosen character take for the Trojan War?
Discuss a relationship your character has with another character from the Iliad. How does that relationship influence the role your character plays?
Discuss the role of the Gods in relation to your character.
Essay 2. Mythological Story Telling
NAME AND DISCUSS ALL COMPONENTS IN THE DEPARTURE
phase of the Hero’s Journey using a NON MAIN character as your example, i.e., Han, Enkidu etc… (You may use an example we did not discuss) (Make a list if that helps).
Essay 3. Traditional Characters and Lessons
Select a character from the World mythology text that we have read this semester:
I. Discuss their transformation from beginning of the myth to the end.
II. What archetypes you observed with the myth…. character and symbolic, etc…
III. What is the theme of the myth and how do you think the myth was used in the time it was told?
You will be graded on how well you use the themes and basic concepts of our class and established by your readings/films to create a thoughtful analysis of what is being asked of you in each essay question.Please proofread and spell check.
