How does the film challenge the idea that slavery was abolished with the 13th Amendment? What master narratives regarding US history do you see at play here? How do you see the connections between prisons and slavery and oppression carrying forward into today, especially in regards to the master narratives at present? Or in other words, how do the “stories we tell ourselves” explain and justify the relationship between prisons, slavery and oppression.
