Each applicant must submit a personal statement, one or two pages in length, which addresses the following:
Your reasons for deciding to pursue graduate work in the field you have chosen. Please ensure you address these three points:
What previous experiences and commitments have brought you to consider applying for graduate education?
What are your chief objectives in applying now?
How do you think Rivier University’s graduate program will help you in the pursuit of your objectives?

I am applying for a psychiatric nurse practitioner program. I have been a registered nurse since 2008. I have worked in the psychiatric field for 13 of those years, predonimantly in the substance abuse treatment world. I currently work in a mothers in recovery program which has been my inspiration for returning to to school. The courage of these mothers who are looking to become sober to become better mothers for their children is inspiring. My goal is to become a psychiatric nurse practitioner so that I can give back to these patients and become a provider specializing in pregnant women and women with younf children who are struggling with substance use disorders. I will be graudating from Colby-Sawyer College in May of this year. In the past 13 years I was afraid to go back to school for fear of failing. Having my own daughter 3 years ago and working in the mothers in recovery program has given me the courage and strength to return to school and complete my BSN, and now apply for my masters.

If you could write something about Rivier University’s nursing mission statement is why their program aligns with my career objectives.
