How does the writer
establish their credibility or status regarding their subject (ethos)?
What reasoning, statistics, or facts does the writer use to convince their
audience (logos)? How does the writer connect to their audience’s
identity, emotions, values, or humor (pathos)?
As you write your essay, you will also quote from the
article to cite as evidence for your analysis and include a Work Cited at the end to demonstrate
your citation skills (Note the singular “Work”!). And remember that your
essay, above all else, must center around a thesis answering this question: Thesis Question: How does the writer
you examine use ethos, logos, and pathos to convince the audience that their
opinion or message is correct?
