A rhetorical analysis is an analytical essay in which you will make an argument about the persuasiveness of a text. Specifically, you’ll pick up the key rhetorical terms we’ve discussed to analyze one of the essays we’ve read so far to discuss whether you find it persuasive.
In my case it is this: https://electricliterature.com/main-character-tiktok-autofiction/
-What are the text’s central arguments? What evidence does it employ?
-What is the exigence of the author’s argument? What events or social dynamics seem to inform their text?
-More broadly, what is the larger context of the piece that is necessary to understand it?
-How would you characterize the writer’s imagined audience (who they think they are writing to)? Do you think that imagine audience likely corresponds with who is actually reading and interacting with the piece?
-What rhetorical strategies and appeals are employed by the author? Do you find them effective?
Note that you should not simply answer these questions one by one. Rather, you will craft an essay around a central thesis statement that makes an argument about whether you find the text persuasive.
