I’d like to use Facebook as my primary poster topic. In April 2021, about half a billion users had their personal information leaked in an online forum led by hackers. Although Facebook claims that this data is from 2019, many users can and would consider that data recent as we tend to not update much of that information on social media. The data included not only phone numbers and email addresses, but biographical information as well. How safe is our information with Facebook? What steps were taken to prevent future breaches? What is different from previous security measures? Were there any similar breaches? Many major companies, like Facebook, tend to limit details to avoid panic. What are they not letting us know about the breach?

Please be sure to include some background history on Facebook, who are its potential customers / users are, information on how the breach occurred and which specific areas were affected, how the owners of Facebook found out that the breach happened, what types of information were breached, who they needed to report the breach to and what were the fines / punishments for the company, how did they try to make it right with their customers? What was the effect on their business after the breach came out? What steps did they take to ensure that another breach would not occur?
