Just over a decade ago and a few years before police killing of African-Americans took center stage in the national dialogue, DJ Henry — a Pace University student – athlete of African-American descent — was fatally shot and killed in his car outside a nightspot near the Mt Pleasantville campus when he was confronted by police. The case and subsequent trial drew national attention. What happened on the night of Oct 17, 2010? What versions of the circumstances were presented at the trial which followed?
Pace’s second annual Social Justice Week is taking place the week of October 25, 2021. This week of learning and reflection is designed to offer an ongoing memorial for Pace student Danroy “DJ” Henry, and to further commit Pace University to social justice and anti-racism.
