Paper #1 Instructions
After the Mayflower: We Shall Remain
Within your essay, answer the following questions: In “After the Mayflower: We Shall Remain,” what was life like for the Wampanoag prior to contact with the Pilgrims? Why did the two groups of people need each other in 1620-1621? How did the relationship develop? What was life like for both sides early on? When did things start to change and why? What happened between the two sides after the death of Massasoit? What were the impact of these events? What implications did you infer from the aftermath of King Philip’s War between the Native people and the colonists? Make sure you provide examples from the film throughout your paper to help bolster your argument. Do not use any other sources, just use the film.
You will need to type up an answer to the questions in essay format. Be sure your paper has an introduction paragraph with a thesis statement; multiple, supporting paragraphs; and a conclusion paragraph. Also, you will want to have a thought-provoking title to your paper.
Your paper should be at least two full-pages (no more than three pages in length), double-spaced, 12-point font with 1-inch margins preferably in a MS Word document. In single-space, put your name, HIST 310, date, and Paper #1 at the top, left-hand side of the first page.
