Choose one chapter among chapters 7,8,9,10, and 11 in the textbook. 1) Read the entire chapter, 2) Reflect on the content, and 3) Write your personal, original responses to all of the following prompts:
1. What was the most surprising organic chemistry fact you learned in the chapter and explain why you were so struck by learning it?
2. List the three most important concepts / figures or graphs / data presented in the chapter and explain why you find them so.
3. What was the hardest part of the chapter for you to understand and explain why you found it difficult to understand?
4. What was the most convincing or best explained part of the chapter and explain why it resonated so well with you?
5. Give one aspect of the chapter that you feel should be explored further in the next edition and explain why you believe more focus should be given.
Aim for 700 words, do not restate the questions in your assignment- just the numbers followed by your responses, please. All documents will be checked for originality.
Do not reiterate what is written in the book, do not restate the knowledge conveyed in the figures, tables, legends, and text of the book.
Before beginning to read, reflect, and write- remember that the writing should be personal – use genuine expressions, a first-person narrative, with appropriate point of view. Be sure to justify your opinions as you respond to the “explain why” questions. I encourage you to demonstrate creativity in your writing as you reveal authenticity in your opinions, reasoning, and analysis.
