I will walk you through the assignment description to the Christian Perspective Essay as well—
Because you attend a Christ-focused university, you have the privilege of being able to discuss our faith in an / every setting on campus. Being at ONU is a special opportunity to strengthen our faith through worship through religious education, through relationships with fellow Christians and also through maintaining our Christian values when we experience encounters that are not Christ-focused.
What we read in class is not Christ-focused; this is a good thing, for it allows us the opportunity to see how we deal with various situations, characters, settings and conflicts that are separate from our (intended) value system- things we will experience when we leave university life and enter the world as graduates, ready to take on the world.
Your assignment is to write a 3-5 (750-1,250 words) page paper, adhering to university level writing, that discusses your experience with literature and faith.
Prompt: Choose a story, poem or play we’ve read this semester to use in an essay about how it has inspired, strengthened, challenged (or all / something in between; you have to articulate the specific feeling) your faith. This is a narrative, so you can and should use “I” but never “you” or “in my opinion / I think.” Refer to the tutorial videos for extra support, and use the writing center. Think carefully about how you want to structure this essay, what main points you will use and which text examples will support your ideas.
