Choose an addictions-based book to read and review. The selected book should be a book that I can find in any library or Amazon. The text should be non-fiction and include an individual’s story of addiction (For example, Drinking: A love story by Caroline Knapp.) The paper should include a one-page summary of the book and a minimum of two pages discussing [at a minimum] the following questions:
⦁ What were some of the contributing factors to the individual’s addiction(s)? For example, biology, family background, socioeconomic status. Explain how you arrived at this conclusion. How were these overcome, if at all?
⦁ Did the individual seek help? If so, from whom? If not, what was done instead? What treatment techniques were utilized? If counseling or a treatment center is discussed, provide a thorough summary of what type of help was most effective/ineffective. If none was used, use the book to determine what techniques would have been beneficial.
⦁ Would you recommend this book to a client struggling with a similar addiction? Why or why not?
