When we think of memory we often think of long-term memory and the problems we all have with memory retrieval. We also spend a good bit of time and a good portion of Chapter 7 on long-term memory.
What about short-term memory?
What about all of the action (working memory) that happens in short-term memory?
Think about a time when you were trying to multitask (pay attention to and complete more than one task at a time). For example:
You might have tried to make dinner and talk or text on your phone at the same time.
Maybe you have tried to study while talking with a roommate or family member.
How effective were you at multitasking? Consider what surprised you about Peter Doolittle’s talk.
What were some of the examples of working memory in the talk?
How does this talk change the way you think about working memory?
What does it make you think about how you spend your time and what you focus on?
What questions does it raise for you?
