What were the common features of African religions? In what ways did the Africans integrate religion in their political, economic, and social activities?

For this Midterm students are required to write 3 to 4 pages on any 2 questions they choose to write on. You must choose two questions from the 5 listed below and you must answer each of them with 3 – 4 pages long answers. Students must submit their essays to this portal by November 7, 2021.
The essay format must be Times New Roman, 12 Font, double spaced. Any essay submitted without this format will be rejected.
Here are the questions
1. “One generalization that can be made with respect to political systems that existed in pre-colonial Africa is that there were essentially two types of political systems: states and “stateless” societies.” With this in mind compare and contrast the political systems of the Igbo and Yoruba societies of Nigeria.
2. With specific reference to the origin, trade commodities, and impact on the African societies, compare any two of these trading systems; The Trans-Saharan, The Indian Ocean, and Trans-Atlantic.
3. Compare the impact of Islam in the historical and cultural development of any two regions in Africa in the pre-colonial era.
4. What were the common features of African religions? In what ways did the Africans integrate religion in their political, economic, and social activities?
5. Discuss the ways in which African societies have utilized non-kinship groups based on age, skills and residence in their social and political organizations.
