Nidal Hasan on the exterior was a successful man who was a serving mid-grade U.S. Army Officer and an educated professional psychiatrist. What was really going on with Nidal Hasan on the inside, and what were the factors that contributed to his turning on fellow soldiers and gunning down 13 of them when they were unarmed in an office building? The Tsarnaev brothers were off-spring of Central Asian immigrants who greatly benefited from American society by leveraging the social welfare system and taking advantage of educational assistance. They were far better off than their close relatives still living in former Soviet Republics, so what were the factors which inspired them to kill innocent Boston Marathon spectators, including women and young children whom they mingled with only minutes before setting off their bombs?

1. Nidal Hasan
Hasan served in the US Army as a military psychiatrist. Hasan was born in Virginia, of Palestinian decent, and a devout Muslim. Hasan’s motivation was his distaste for Western occupation of “Muslim territories”. The real push for Hasan to violence was his disagreement with US military activity in the Middle East and the disapproval from coworkers of his views when he expressed them.
Dzhokhar and Tamerlan Tsarnaev
The Boston Marathon bombing that was carried out by Dzhokhar and Tamerlan Tsarnaev was motivated by their infatuation with al Qaeda and radicalized Islamic propaganda from the internet. Taking into account their upbringing in a former Soviet bloc, it’s not unsurprising that they would be sympathetic or influenced by Chechen rebels and the battle against the Soviet Union oppression.
2. What were the factors that contributed to his turning on fellow soldiers and gunning down 13 of them when they were unarmed in an office building?
Nidal Hasan was a Major in the United States Army serving as a professional psychiatrist and had been serving for roughly 20 years. Many factors come into play with this case, for starters, Nidal Hasan was a devout Muslim who had contradicting beliefs. He was a practicing Muslim but also worked for the United States Army as a high ranking officer, Nidal struggled with those two factors greatly. He started to see the Army members as enemies and seeing the members of the Army going overseas to Irag and killing people, then coming back home didn’t sit well with him. Nidal became more and more radical as time progressed and soon put his plan into action killing over 12 innocent and unarmed soldiers and wounding many more.
So what were the factors which inspired them to kill innocent Boston Marathon spectators, including women and young children whom they mingled with only minutes before setting off their bombs?
The Boston Marathon was incredibly hard to see and hear about, all those innocent people enjoying their time with families and cheering on their loved ones, its a true shame. The Tsarnaev brothers were inspired by Al-Queda to commit their acts of terror. The younger brother, Dzhokhar, was very much heavily influenced by his older brother, Tamerlan. Tamerlan was more of the aggressor and Dzhokhar was just a follow to his older brother. Between the internet and being inspired from Al-Queda, they both set the plan into motion and carried out their attacks. One brother was killed days following the attack and the younger brother Dzhokhar survived and was taken into custody.
