In this essay, you are looking at the period from roughly 1890 to 1920 and two major events in US history, the movement of the US to becoming a world empire and the Progressive Movement. In this summary discuss why the US began to look outside its borders and how the Spanish American War opened the door for the US creating an empire. What were the upsides and downsides of this move? Also discuss what the Progressives were trying to do. Talk about two specific parts of the movement. What were the positives and negatives of the Progressive Movement?
