Each essay should include an introduction and a conclusion. The body of the essay should be organized in short paragraphs that in the end, present a coherent argument or arguments and support these arguments.
You need to demonstrate that you have read the articles, book chapters, and policy documents and conventions we covered during the first part of this Semester. You need to demonstrate critical reading and thinking, and synthesized thinking.
Your answers will likely refer to some of the concepts we learned so far (e.g. gender, sovereignty, interdisciplinarity, and intersectionality). Please define any concepts you use.

In his chapter, Andrés Henao Castro draws on Wolfe’s (2013, p. 266) definition of settler colonialism as “being continuous across time, as structure rather than event” and on Day’s (2016, p. 27) view that settler colonialism made 1) land the primary relationship between colonizers and indigenous peoples, and 2) labor the primary relationship between settlers and enslaved Africans transported to the Americas.
