What would be the consequences of the law in France on the labor market?

In 2006, the French government adopted a proposal for a new bill on immigration and integration which provides for the promotion of “selective immigration” through the introduction of a new type of residence permit for “skills and talents” to be granted to immigrants whose personalities, abilities and projects may contribute to the country’s economy. At the same time, the new law proposes tougher controls on the immigration and settlement of unskilled people.
