In the readings section of this course you’ve just read the article Sensorimotor development: Hands-on activities for infants and toddlers by Louise Parks and have been learning about the children with whom you work, so you are prepared to support this task required of you.
Begin by choosing a developmental stage;
Newborns
Sitting infants
Young toddlers
Older toddlers
Then a focus area;
physical motor skills
sensory stimulation
social-emotional development
language development
Next, share what you would need to be aware of before creating activities for the child and how you would modify activities that you might have found online or in a curriculum book. Discuss how you would offer new challenges to avoid boredom or frustration, for a child who is ready for more of a challenge. Please provide examples and enough detail so that your lead teacher is able to understand your thinking.
