What historical circumstances?

Write an outline of your presentation. The paper/presentation will be 4-5 pages
long including a half-page image of your object and the description. So the
outline should be up to 11/2-2 pages plus a bibliography.
Steps:
1) Research the context of your object and, specifically, scholarly work
on this context. Create a bibliography of approx. three sources.
2) Create an outline, outlining each paragraph with a topic sentence and
a few lines beneath expanding on that topic sentence, references to
object or secondary source etc.
INTRODUCTORY PARAGRAPH SHOULD CULMINATE IN A
KIND OF “THESIS” THAT SIGNALS TO YOUR
READER/LISTENER WHAT THEY WILL BE LEARNING ABOUT
THE OBJECT. YOUR THESIS OR ARGUMENT ABOUT THE
OBJECT WILL DETERMINE HOW YOU INTRODUCE THE
OBJECT TO US. THE ARGUMENT NEED NOT BE
PROVOCATIVE OR GROUNDBREAKING, BUT RATHER IT IS
THE ORGANIZING PRINCIPLE OF YOUR WORK.
DEPENDING ON YOUR OWN SENSE, THE FIRST OR SECOND
PARAGRAPH CAN DESCRIBE THE STORY OF THE SPECIFIC
OBJECT: Do we know how it came to be part of the collection to
which it belongs? How it came to be made? About its author?
Patron (the person or people who paid for it to be created)? Do
you have a personal connection to it? Did you seek out an object
about a particular topic?
FRAMING YOUR OBJECT:
What context created this object besides its actual maker? What
historical circumstances?
You are expected to weave information from these sources into your
paper. Quotes should be part of your outline.
