ONCE CHOSEN MOVIE/ BOOK/ I CAN SUBMIT DISORDER NOTES AND SLIDES
Requirements:
o 6 to 10 pages in length
o Your paper should be in APA style, double spaced, use Times New Roman 12 point font, and have 1 inch
margins. (For help with APA style, the Purdue OWL APA Style Guide is excellent.)
o Your paper should include references at the end, and they do not count toward your page count.
References are likely to include the DSM 5 and scholarly articles about the disorder.
Content:
o Brief biography of the character, including a description of the current circumstances in their life.
o Symptoms of concern that the character is exhibiting. Think of this as the Clinical Assessment, so include
anything you observe, even if it is not consistent with the suspected diagnosis.
o Discussion of the etiology of the symptoms, including biological, cultural, social, and environmental
factors. You can use what you know of the character and the etiology of disorders.
o Summary of the DSM-5 diagnosis (or diagnoses) that you think fit this character’s experience, including
which criteria they meet based on their symptoms.
o Differential diagnosis: This is an explanation of other possible diagnoses, and why they are not the best fit.
o Prognosis and treatment recommendations. What course do you expect the disorder to have? What
treatments that exist for this disorder might be a good fit for this character?
o Assessment of whether this is a realistic portrayal of this disorder. What did they get right and wrong,
based on your knowledge of the disorder?
