Where do you notice positive advances for equal opportunity for all, and where do you identify potential evidence of ineffective and inappropriate practices?

7.3 Post Brown II: De Jure v De Facto Segregation Reflection (100 points)
Chapter 12 of the Essex text details the aftermath of Brown II and examines the realities and impact of De Jure and De Facto segregation up to the present day. It is essential that school administrators possess cultural competence in order to recognize and respond to discrimination in any form.
This reflection requires you to examine the microcosm of your current work culture and practice. Begin by reflecting upon your own experiences and perceptions regarding segregation, discrimination, prejudice, and bias. These constructs could be connected to race, ethnicity, class, religion, gender and/or gender identity, sexual orientation, etc. Then explore the policies and practices, formal and informal, which exist within your work environment. Where do you notice positive advances for equal opportunity for all, and where do you identify potential evidence of ineffective and inappropriate practices? If you wish to triangulate your qualitative and quantitative data, identify individual(s) within the same work setting to interview. Please ensure that the individual(s) represent a difference in at least one social group than you (i.e., different race, gender, religion).
The resulting reflection should be a candid analysis of these topics and may include cited information (including interview data) if you wish. It should conclude with a short appraisal of your work culture and practice relative to De Jure and De Facto Segregation and any recommendations you would offer for future improvements toward a more inclusive setting. The reflection should be two pages, double-spaced.
