Chapter five provides a brief overview of a few different types of early-childhood education programs (e.g., Montessori schools, Reggio Emilia programs, teacher-directed programs, Head Start, etc.). Take some time to research the above preschool programs and others online.
Based on the textbook, as well as your own research, please answer the following questions:
1. Which type of early-childhood education program do you believe is the best? Why?
2. Which of the early-childhood education programs do you like the least? Why?
3. Would you enroll your (hypothetical) child in any of the early-childhood education programs covered in the text or would you wait until kindergarten to send your child to school? Explain your reasoning.
4. Next, respond to a classmate’s post with either a question or a comment. If you choose to leave a comment, be sure to say something more than “I agree”. Elaborate or add something new to consider. As always, please be sure to be respectful when expressing your opinions. Remember, your reply must be at least 100 words. You will not be able to view your classmates’ responses until you post.
