While working one day in the community another police officer is working with you. You hear on the radio that she gets out with a bunch of kids at the basketball court. You make your way over to her to see what was going on. When you arrive, you hear the officer yelling and using profanity at the kids about throwing trash down and not picking it up. What should you do, so that you do not lose legitimacy/trust with the community but not contradict or cause the officer to lose the legitimacy of authority to the community?

Scenario:

You are a police officer who has become well known in the community that you work in. The reason for the popularity is because you really go above and beyond talking to people in the community with respect. You take the time to really try to explain police actions and the reason behind what other officers do. You have become trustworthy among the people even those you do not live in this community and your cultural ethnicity is different from theirs.
