Who do you think is the most interesting character? Why?
How does the setting of the story add to the interest of the crime fiction story?
What plot or plot twists in the story did you find most compelling? Why?
What crime fiction conventions (for example, the “crime fighting duo”) did you find most interesting? Why?
How did the author’s sense of humour add to the story?
What social conflicts appearing in a story did you find most compelling?
Did the main character fit the description of a hero or an anti-hero?
In what ways does the story focus on the the conflict between rich and poor?
Choose a question and apply it to a story.

-Use some of the critical language, meaning some of the concepts or themes, introduced in the slideshows to analyze your story choice;
-Use specific details from the story to explain your answer.

Instructions.
NOTE: Do not conduct outside research for this assignment. Respond to the story using your own ideas and the ideas from the course.
Step 1 Read the short story once to get an understanding of the events and style. Then reread, making notes about things you find interesting and points that may work to answer your question. You will need to use evidence from the story to support your main point.
Step 2 Write a thesis statement and point form outline. Make sure you have a clear argument. It is not necessary to use secondary sources; however, students are responsible to reference any sources used.
Step 3 Provide evidence to support your reasoning. Keep any summary very brief. Use quotations or brief paraphrases to support your points. When you quote from the text, use in-text citations, APA format. Provide a References (APA) page.
Step 4 Write the rough draft; include introduction and conclusion paragraphs. The introduction paragraph should give the title and author of the short story, a restatement of the question in the form of a thesis and the main points covered.
Step 5 Edit your paper. Check for logic, clarity and correctness.
