Task 5 Change The Organizational Structure
Imagine you are the new General Manager of a beautiful private country club in Scottsdale Arizona. As in most hospitality organizations, the Club is set up in a functional structure. The following positions report directly to you:
• Director of Human Resources
• Director of Golf
• Director of Aquatics
• Director of Food & Beverage
• Director of Tennis Operations
• Director of Finance
• Director of Events
• Director of Membership and Marketing
As with most functional structures, this club has communications issues. Divisions don’t communicate important information and members are negatively impacted. Conflict among departments has created a culture of finger-pointing and mistrust.
You will review the section on Organizational Structures in chapter 15. Your job is to change the structure from functional to the structure that makes the most sense. In this new structure, you will include the positions above and any departments/personnel that report to them. This will result a professional visual of the structure.
Also included is a one or two paragraph description of why this new structure will address the clubs issues.
