Why do you think it is important to use the real term for legislation when speaking about policy?

I realize this is a just a late-night comedy bit, but the phenomena of people not understanding policy or basic science that impacts their daily lives is very real and prevalent in US culture. In fact, this is an interview (Links to an external site.) regarding a survey which showed that 35% of Americans would have missed Kimmel’s question.
