This essay will be a literature review on the challenges of cybersecurity. I’ve included a rough outline below, but feel free to take as much leeway as you want, or ask me questions. I need 15 sources cited in APA 7 format. I’d prefer at least 50% of the sources are academic journals. No Wikipedia or any non-reputable sources.
1. Review 2-3 notable cybersecurity attacks over the past 10 years. The most notable ones I could think of are the Target stores breach of 2013; the US Federal Government OPM breach of 2015; and the Colonial Pipeline attack of 2021. Feel free to pick others if you don’t like mine. This section could be 2-3 pages.
2. Why is it so hard to maintain cybersecurity? Despite the enormous budgets that governments and businesses have, attacks only seem to have intensified. This section could be 4-5 pages. I’d imagine you could write about the technological challenges, but also the human challenges (such as ‘social engineering’, ‘phishing’, physical security, etc)
3. What is being done in academic, corporate and governmental settings to mitigate the cybersecurity risks we face today and in the future? What is the prognosis of cybersecurity as we head into the 2020s? This section could be 4-5 pages.
