Essay Revision for Portfolio
Portfolio is 40% of your overall grade. Make sure you make the revisions.
You will be revising essay 2, your formal argument for the portfolio. Go back and read the comments I wrote on your essay. Make those revisions first. Then go back over your essay and do the following:
Make sure you have 4 sources except essay 1. Essay should be around 4½ pages. One of your sources should be a scholarly source.
Check your formatting of the sources. No websites as starters. Use title of article if no author. Alphabetical order.
. Check your sources add signal phrases to content using the author and title of article.
Make title more than the topic of the essay.
Revise thesis statement. Make clear, concise and set up argument with because clause.
Claims, make a mental list of your claims. Have quotes from authority (Source) to prove what you are saying is correct.
Check your claims to make sure they are not just general knowledge.
Make sure you have opposition in your essay. 2 main points of opposition.
Check paragraphing, grammar, italicizing newspaper names, quote marks around titles of articles.
Make sure your Works Cited page starts a new page after your content.
Take out extra wordiness or overuse of certain words. Change up the order of your sentences to add variation to structure.
Finally, combine your documents into one file and submit as one document.
