1. Find a branded technology or technological service (i.e., not generic, but offered for sale out
there in the world by someone or some company). Preferably find something that you do not
yet know everything about or are curious to know more about.
2. Write a 1000-word essay that clearly addresses the following prompts with as much detail or
examples as possible:
a. Provide an overview of the technology or technological service in your own words,
including a URL where I could find out more myself.
b. Pick one of the following relations (technology <> work or technology <> worker) and
imagine how the technology or technological service you identified will mutually shape
that relationship. Divide your text equally to highlight the force(s) of technology as well
as the force(s) of work or workers. Understandably, you will be making an argument
without sufficient experience or evidence so try to be as concrete as possible in your
hypothetical assertions, even if they are not grand or profound.
c. Conclude with a short summary about what you think is or should be the role of human
agency within the larger topic of ‘the future of work.’
