For your first major assignment, you will write a thesis-driven rhetorical analysis of a text or source related to your larger research project for the semester. Your thesis should make an argument that answers the following question: Is the rhetor’s argument effective? Why or why not?
Intro : Introduce the text via its rhetorical situation and summarize the rhetor’s argument or position. End this portion of the essay with your thesis.
Body: Explain why you think the rhetoric is effective or ineffective in their argument using 2-3 of the rhetorical concepts we have discussed: exigence, stasis, ethos, logos, pathos, mythos, Kairos. Use passages from the text itself as evidence to support your argument.
Conclusion : Recap your argument on whether the rhetoric is successful based on the rhetorical aspects you have identified.
