Choose an important historical event that has occurred in the last 100 years. Write a brief history of this event without using traditional research methods – no books, articles, websites, records, movies, etc. The only sources you may use are oral tradition and (if applicable) your own memory. Ask friends, acquaintances, and family members about this historical event, and use what they say to write your history.
NOTE: This is not meant to be an account of what your acquaintances/friends/family members were doing during this historical event, but rather an attempt at a general history of it. Think of it as trying to write a textbook entry for the event!
AN ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENT: Your history must contain one speech (even if it is only a short one) by one of the historical figures you talk about in your account. In the style of Herodotus and Thucydides, this speech will be entirely invented by you, but it should be as close as possible to what this figure *might* have said on such an occasion.
